Orrani attends USAEDC conference in Baltimore

What will the future of US agricultural exports look like?

Annette Brune recently attended the U.S. Agricultural Export Development Council (USAEDC) annual workshop in Baltimore. As an affiliate member of USAEDC, this event is an important forum to meet the US industry boards and get USDA FAS' view of how the future of US agricultural exports will look.

Key topics discussed at this year's conference included:

  • Market access − in particular in view of the growing importance of non-tariff barriers and the recently concluded Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) negotiations
  • Food security – how to feed an ever-growing world population
  • Risk management and communication – illustrated by the example of the US’ High-Path Avian Influenza (HPAI) outbreak in 2015

As always, the workshop included excellent presentations by a multitude of speakers from the US Government (USDA / USTR), US industry associations, private industry, political commentators and academia.
