As elsewhere in the world, the health and wellness trend in South Korea is gathering pace. Consumers in urban areas are increasingly aware of the benefits of a low-fat diet and a healthy lifestyle. This has had adverse effects on sectors such as fast food restaurants as customers are turning towards healthier meal options. In contrast, the large pizza restaurant sector in South Korea keeps growing as restaurants are adjusting their menu offerings and include toppings such as seafood, vegetables and other ingredients that are perceived as healthy.
At the weekend, Annette had a chance to escape the hustle and bustle of Seoul and visit a dairy farm, where she observed a newly-born calf being separated from its mother and moved to the calf nursery. This is one of South Korea's most productive dairy farms, with high yields of 8,000-9,000 litres per cow per annum.
After this weekend respite it was back to the more frenetic pace of Seoul in order to finish off the project interviews, and then a return to the substantially colder but less humid UK.
